Vostro 1500 Drivers

Hi there,I've just received my Vostro 1500, and I 'downgraded' it from Vista Business to Windows XP Professional with SP2.However, I'm having trouble with the following drivers:Base System DeviceBase System DeviceBase System DeviceEthernet ControllerSM Bus ControllerPCI DeviceNB The above list is how it looks in Device Manager. There are yellow question marks next to them. The sound doesn't work, either.I've downloaded all of the necessary drivers from the Dell Website, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem with a desktop and this is what I had to do IN THIS ORDER:Install:XPXP Service Packs and UpgradesChipset driversVideo driversNIC drivers Audio driversI found this info in a knowledgebase article and when I installed in THAT order, all the question marks went away in Device Manager. See if there's a similar document for the 1500.I just got a 1500 with vista and I am starting to do the same thing with XP.I'll let you know if I get anywhere and you do the same.-Tony.

Dell Vostro 1500 Drivers Windows 7

GSo I got a vostro 1500 last year,it was refurbished and came with windows 7 32bit home premium installed - and the wifi worked perfectly.I downloaded and installed pcsx2 which in turn downloaded some other stuff I don't really know about. This is where my dilemma begins. While shutting down it was apparently installing update but the battery was 2% and it died while doing that.

Later on I plug in and windows just won't boot,it goes past the 'starting windows' screen but after thatit just displays a black screen and never completes booting. After days of steady frustration I installed a new copy of windows 7 64bit ultimate, this is where it started. My wifi just won't work. It sees available connections butwon't just connect and even if it does(after a long time) I get a limited connection, diagnostics tell me 'Wifi connection does not have a valid ip address' I've tried everything I read online from winshock commands to re-seating the wifi card,re-installedthe drivers- I get nothing. So for a week I abandoned the laptop, and when I Put it on,it automatically connected to my home's wifi network,so I disconnected It so I could use it later,an hour later I put on the laptop wifi is back to its usual behaviourSo I tried installing the windows vista that came with it,lo and behold it worked (.) Without me installing any drivers its been working fine but the problem is windows vista lags on this system and I can't keep using it.

I need a way to getwifi working on windows 7From what I can tell its using an intel 3945abg card.I'm thinking of buying a new wifi card, but the fact it works on windows vista makes me think its more of a software issue, nothardware and changing the card won't solve the problemPlease what do I do? The problem could be that you installed a 64-bit operating system on a machine that was designed and supplied originally 32-bit (XP and Vista). In all probability, there is no good 64-bit driver for your Wi-Fi card, which would explain why it works with 32-bit Vista, 32-bit Windows 7 but not what you have now.If you can find out what make Wi-Fi adapter you have, you might be able to get 64-bit drivers from the device manufacturer to save the day.Windows 10 Pro - Start10 - part of a local network which is a '3rd party optimizer-free' zone.
